Overview.
The marina’s previous infrastructure relied on aging Hikvision cameras and multiple wireless bridge systems installed across the property. These antennas created visual clutter that negatively impacted the marina’s curb appeal while also limiting camera placement and network performance.
The wireless camera architecture resulted in inconsistent coverage and limited expansion capability. Several areas of the docks had poor or no camera visibility due to wireless bandwidth constraints. The marina also lacked a structured network design between the office and piers, making future technology expansion difficult.
On the IT side, staff computers were not managed through centralized identity systems, making it difficult to track user activity or enforce security policies. Communication between staff members and marina management relied heavily on informal methods, reducing operational efficiency.
The Challenge.
River Cove Marina required a complete modernization of its technology infrastructure to better support marina operations, security, and communication between staff and yacht owners. Envigo Networks designed and deployed a unified IT and security environment that connects the marina office, docks, and common areas through a secure and resilient network backbone.
The project included installation of surveillance cameras across all docks, access control for pier gates and common areas, a smart gate entry system, and a new enterprise Wi-Fi network covering the entire marina. In addition, Envigo Networks implemented Microsoft 365 services including Azure AD managed identities, Exchange Online email, and Microsoft Teams collaboration tools to streamline operations and improve accountability across staff systems.
Today, the marina operates on a fully managed and monitored technology platform maintained by Envigo Networks, including continuous system monitoring and 24/7 cybersecurity protection.
The Solution.
Envigo Networks engineered and installed a completely new wired network backbone connecting the main office to all marina piers using underground conduit infrastructure and weather-rated NEMA enclosures at each dock. This design eliminated the need for multiple wireless antennas while creating a high-capacity network capable of supporting surveillance, access control, and Wi-Fi across the entire property.
UniFi surveillance cameras were strategically installed across all docks to provide comprehensive vessel monitoring and marina security. A monitoring display was installed in the marina office, allowing staff to view camera activity in real time. Yacht owners were also granted secure remote access to designated cameras so they can monitor their vessels while away from the marina.
Envigo Networks also deployed an integrated gate entry system that allows visitors to contact marina staff directly through a smart intercom system that can ring either the office or designated staff mobile devices. Access control was installed on common area doors and pier gates to ensure secure access management for staff and authorized visitors.
To modernize the marina’s IT environment, Envigo Networks created a Microsoft 365 tenant, deployed Azure AD managed user accounts, and implemented structured security groups to simplify user management. Exchange Online shared mailboxes were created to support marina operations, and Microsoft Teams was introduced as the primary collaboration tool for internal communication and operational task management.
The network was fully segmented using VLAN architecture to separate marina operations, guest Wi-Fi, security systems, and management traffic. Envigo Networks now continuously monitors the entire system and provides ongoing support, ensuring the marina’s technology infrastructure remains secure, reliable, and optimized.
